Occasionally I find myself having doubts about who I am. I’ve noticed that I can be scrolling through social media and comparing myself to other people. After battling depression, I discovered affirmations.
Affirmations are short positive statements that help change how you think and the way you view your situations. Some of my favorite affirmations come from happyblackwoman.com. The ones that I like to say the most are “I am calm in the face of conflict. I brush annoyances off quickly and easily. I agree to disagree. I am bigger than that!” and “I release my need to compare myself to others. I judge myself by my own standards of success. I am ENOUGH just as I am.”
In my first blog post about struggle (which you can find here), I talked about how the things that you think and say have a huge influence in who you are and how you feel. This is why affirmations are so important, and as Christians, we need to know who we are in Christ in order to know how to fully live in our purpose. Below are 10 scriptures from the Bible that affirm who you are in Christ.
I am the righteousness of God in Christ. – 2 Corinthians 5:21
I am not a slave, but an heir of God. – Galatians 4:7
I have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 1:3
I am chosen, holy, and royal. – 1 Peter 2:9
I am the head and not the tail. I will always be at the top, and never at the bottom. – Deuteronomy 28:13
I am the lender and not the borrower – Proverbs 22:7
I have been predestined by God to obtain an inheritance. – Ephesians 1:9-11
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13
I am God’s workmanship created to produce good works. – Ephesians 2:10
I have boldness and confident access to God through faith in Christ. – Ephesians 3:12
My prayer for you today is that you recognize not only who you are, but whose you are. You have been called for a purpose larger than you and you are going to have some ups and downs along the way. You are going to wonder if it’s what you are really supposed to be doing or if you’re even qualified. I want you to know that if God has called you to it, there is no such thing as qualifications. As always I want to thank God for using me as His messenger. If no one has told you recently, you are loved and you are worthy. You mean something to me and you mean something to God. He has a great plan for your life if you make the decision to follow Him. I hope that this post will resonate with you in your day to day life as you began to work on the things that are stopping you from living your best life.
